Sheri Tor is an award-winning director/actor/playwright/screenwriter with a long list of exciting and diverse projects to her credit.

She has acted in a large number of plays (her New York debut coming at age four in Mary Poppins) but it was soon apparent that her real passion was to be found "at the helm."

While growing up, Sheri spent summers and school vacations at her grandparent's home in Connecticut. While the other kids were off playing, Sheri discovered The Hartford Stage at age six and has been hooked on the smell of the greasepaint ever since. This led to many acting roles before a chance meeting a few years later with Mark Lamos changed the course of her world forever. "I was always in awe of his talent," she says. "Mark gives his all in everything he does and I was so excited when it was announced that he would be taking over as the new Artistic Director at The Hartford Stage. I went to every single one of his productions - often seeing each show throughout its entire run - and was thrilled. While everyone else watched the performance, I watched Mark. The way he interpreted the story, the way he guided the characters, the way he set up each scene.....he made me think. Soon I was visualizing how I would do the entire play in my head from start to finish and then comparing little details of my version with his. It was amazing and made me realize that my true passion wasn't in the acting, but with the taking of a blank, empty platform and turning it into something special. A magical place that not only tells a story but, if done correctly, transports the audience into a different world. A world where nothing else exists but the link between themselves and the stage. Mark gave me that. Many years, and a vast number of my own productions, later I'm still in love with directing. Mark Lamos is still my mentor. And I am still forever grateful to The Hartford Stage for allowing a fascinated, starry-eyed little girl the opportunity to sit on the floor in front of the stage so she wouldn't miss even a moment."

Sheri resides in Los Angeles. She is very excited about the current success of her crossover into film and television work.
